Vega Baby Releasing has announced that they have acquired North American DVD and VOD rights to the skateboarding documentary film SHReD: THE STORY OF ASHER BRADSHAW, which is directed by Katherine Herndl and produced by Wilmer Valderrama ("That 70's Show), and will release it to audiences via DVD and VOD today, July 14th, 2015. In addition to Valderrama, the film was produced by Herndl and Jeff Renfroe.
'SHReD' is an inspirational documentary about Asher Bradshaw, a 6 year-old skateboarding prodigy and YouTube viral video sensation from South Central Los Angeles, whose dream is to become the world's youngest sponsored skateboarder. The emotionally moving film follows Asher whose unbelievable talent and infectious smile help him to take the skateboarding world by storm and documents his father's struggle to support his family while doing everything he can to make his son's dream come true. SHReD also features the world's skateboarding elite including Tony Alva, Skip Engblom (founder of the Zephyr Skate Team/Dogtown and ZBoys) and more.
The film grew out of Bradshaw's YouTube video postings, which have drawn over 2 million hits to date. This attention eventually led to Valderrama and others coming onboard the project to shepherd a crowd funding campaign that helped finish the film.
Asher recently became the youngest skateboarder in the world to land the infamous 900. Along with Tony Hawk who was the very first, Asher is now one of only 12 skateboarders in the world to land this almost impossible trick.
The deal was brokered by Sheldon Brigman, CEO and Co-President of Vega Baby Releasing and by RD Robb and Brad Luff of Global Creative Station 3 Management on behalf of the filmmakers.

Vega Baby Releasing previously distributed the Ukraine-set horror/thriller GHOUL to theaters this spring, as well as the high-profile documentary THE MAGIC OF HEINEKEN, which made an exclusive run on Hulu before heading into select theaters and a multi-platform release late last year.
In addition, Vega Baby Productions has the action-thriller EVERLY, starring Salma Hayek, which debuted in theaters through Radius -TWC in February.
