Rosemarie DeWitt in Talks for KILL THE MESSENGER?

According to Deadline.com, Rosemarie DeWitt is the latest actress to join Jeremy Renner in Focus Features' KILL THE MESSENGER, adapted from the book by Nick Schou and helmed by Michael Cuesta, with a script penned by Peter Landesman. DeWitt is in final negotiations for the female lead. Paz Vega also recently joined the cast.

KILL THE MESSENGER follows real-life, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb, who exposed the CIA's involvement in Nicaragua's Contra rebel cocaine imports into California in the '80s. The CIA attempted to skirt the accusations, and Webb was found shot in the head twice. It was said he "committed suicide".

The film is aiming to begin production in August in Atlanta.

DeWitt was last seen in Promised Land and Touch Feely, and will next be seen in The Dramatics. Past credits include The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Company Men, Rachel Getting Married and Cinderella Man, as well as TV's The Newsroom, United States of Tara, Mad Men and Standoff.
