Rick Moranis to Release New Album 'My Mothers Brisket & Other Love Songs,' 6/18

Actor, comedian and multiple GRAMMY nominated musician, Rick Moranis, is set to release his brand new album, My Mother's Brisket & Other Love Songs, June 18th on Warner Bros. Records/LoudMouth Entertainment. The album, which is available for pre-order today, allows fans to choose between four special packages featuring My Mother's Brisket & Other Love Songs on CD and/or digital download. The Minyan Pack of 10 CD's (for the cousins) and L'Chaim Pack of 18 CD's (to include the second cousins) also feature a celebratory inscribed yarmulke; My Mother's Brisket Deluxe Pack features the album on CD, digital download and the yarmulke; My Mother's Brisket Digital Pack features a digital copy of the album delivered on the day of release, June 18th. A collection of songs derived from his Jewish roots and upbringing, My Mother's Brisket & Other Love Songs, features an eclectic blend of klezmer, rumba, folk and jazz covering themes of family, food, religious traditions and love.

Moranis explains, "When I first began writing jokes and sketches with various Jewish partners, one of us would inevitably stop at some point and announce, 'Too Jewish!', meaning, too Jewish for the star, the show, the network or the audience. The songs on this album are all in that category. I grew up hearing Allan Sherman and the 'You Don't Have To Be Jewish' albums in the 60's. Now, I'm in my 60's."

Nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Comedy Album in 1983 and 2005, music has always been a big part of Rick Moranis' career. He started spinning records on Toronto 70's radio, then went on to do stand-up comedy, always appearing with his guitar. On the Emmy award winning TV series "SCTV," Moranis did musical impressions, parodies and characters. He also starred in a list of still loved 80's films including "Ghostbusters," "Spaceballs," "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" and the cult-favorite McKenzie Brothers' film "Strange Brew," along with, one of his most beloved, the musical "Little Shop of Horrors." With this album, Moranis returns to where he started.
