Philip Seymour Hoffman For HUNGER GAMES Sequel?

EWonline reports that DEATH OF A SALESMAN star and 2012 Tony nominee Philip Seymour Hoffman has been offered the role of 'Plutarch Heavensbee' in the upcoming 'Hunger Games' sequel 'Catching Fire.' According to the report, producers on the film have made an offer to the Oscar winning actor to appear in the role which plays a crucial part in the movie's storyline. 

The part of Plutarch Heavensbee is described as "the new Gamemaker at the Capitol after Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) was creatively executed at the end of The Hunger Games and is a far savvier political animal than his predecessor." Director Francis Lawrence is set to begin shooting the sequel sometime this fall. Lionsgate, the studio behind 'Catching Fire', had no comment.

Hoffman received a Tony nomination for his role of Willy Loman in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman on Broadway. His other Broadway credits include True West, Long Day's Journey Into Night. Off-Broadway he appeared as Jack Goes Boating, The Seagull, The Author's Voice and Imagining Brad, Shopping and F******, Defying Gravity, and The Striker. He has also directed and served as artistic director for several Off-Broadway shows including The Little Flower of East Orange, Unconditional, A View from 151st Street, School of the Americas, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Sailor's Song, Guinea Pig Solo, Dutch Heart of Man, Our Lady of 121st Street, The Glory of Living, and Jesus Hopped the A Train.
