The Santa Barbara International Film Festival, presented by UGG® Australia, is delighted to present the 2015 American Riviera Award to actors Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke at the 30th edition of the Fest, which runs Tuesday, January 27 through Saturday, February 7, 2015. This is THE FIRST TIME the award will be bestowed upon two honorees, who will be honored with a Tribute celebrating their careers, including their remarkable collaboration in Richard Linklater's critically acclaimed epic "Boyhood," it was announced today by SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling. The Tribute will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2015.

The American Riviera Award was established to recognize actors who have had a strong influence on American Cinema. Arquette and Hawke will join a prestigious group of past recipients, including last year's honoree Robert Redford, Quentin Tarantino (2013) and Martin Scorsese (2012), Annette Bening (2011), Sandra Bullock (2010), Mickey Rourke (2009), Tommy Lee Jones (2008), Forrest Whitaker (2007), Philip Seymour Hoffman (2006), Kevin Bacon (2005) and Diane Lane (2004).

"To honor Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke with the American Riviera Award is an immense privilege for SBIFF," said Durling. "Both have careers filled with significant achievements both on and off camera including their roles in Richard Linklater's 'Boyhood' - which features some of the most unique performances of the year in a project they worked on for over a dozen years - and proves that they're artists that continue to evolve and inspire us."

Arquette's body of work is diverse, highlighting her range as an actress. Arquette has worked with a stellar list of directors in such critically-acclaimed films as Martin Scorsese's "Bringing Out the Dead," Rupert Wainwright's "Stigmata," Sean Penn's "The Indian Runner," John Madden's "Ethan Frome," Tony Scott's "True Romance," Michel Gondry's "Human Nature," Tim Burton's "Ed Wood," David O. Russell's "Flirting With Disaster," John Boorman's "Beyond Rangoon," David Lynch's "Lost Highway," Stephen Frears' "Hi Lo Country" and Roland Jaffe's "Goodbye Lover." On the small screen, Arquette won an Emmy Award and received three Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the hit NBC series "Medium," and more recently played a recurring role on the award-winning HBO series "Boardwalk Empire." For her role as Olivia in "Boyhood," Arquette has already been recognized by the New York Film Critics Circle with their 2014 Award for Best Supporting Actress and was also nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Hawke, a three-time Academy Award nominee, has emerged a multifaceted artist, challenging himself as a novelist, screenwriter, director and musician, while earning world acclaim for his BRAVE and nuanced roles.

Hawke has starred in over forty feature films, including "Boyhood," his 8th collaboration with director Richard Linklater. They have worked together on "Fast Food Nation," "Waking Life," "The Newton Boys," "Tape" and the beloved trilogy of films which he starred opposite Julie Delpy - "Before Sunrise," "Before Sunset" and "Before Midnight." The latter two films earned Hawke two more Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay (a nomination he shared with his collaborators Delpy and Linklater). In 2002, Hawke received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Antoine Fuqua's Academy Award winning film "Training Day" opposite Denzel Washington. Additional beloved and critically acclaimed roles include Peter Weir's "Dead Poets Society," Andrew Niccol's "Gattaca," Sidney Lumet's "Before The Devil Knows You're Dead," "Gary David Golberg's "Dad," Ben Stiller's "Reality Bites," Frank Marshall's Alive," Alfonso Cuaron's "Great Expectations," Michael Almereyda's "Hamlet," and Antoine Fuqua's "Brooklyn's Finest." In 2015, Sundance Selects will be releasing his documentary directorial debut "Seymour: an Introduction," and IFC Films' will release his newest film "Good Kill," his third collaboration with director Andrew Niccol. Additionally, Hawke has been a faithful member of the New York theater world ("Macbeth", "Ivanov" "The Cherry Orchard"), and was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the critically acclaimed drama "The Coast of Utopia." For his role as Mason Sr. in "Boyhood," Hawke has already been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Arquette and Hawke's newest film "Boyhood" was filmed over 12 years with the same cast. A feature length film about growing up as seen through the eyes of a boy named Mason, who literally grows up on screen before our eyes, "Boyhood" charts the rocky terrain of childhood, parenting and growing up. "Boyhood" was released by IFC Films.
