Oscar Isaac to Play 'Apocalypse' in Next X-MEN Film

According to Variety, Oscar Isaacs, who just recently wrapped filming on the next STAR WARS film, has officially been tapped to play 'Apocalypse' in the upcoming X-MEN film.

The film "will have more of the mass destruction that 'X-Men' films, to date, have not relied upon...there's definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle," director Brian Singer previously said of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.

The film hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

The previous X-MEN film, 'DAYS OF FUTURE PAST,' starred Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender,James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halley Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Evan Jonigkeit.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original "X-Men" film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change The Past - to save our future.

Oscar Isaac most recently completed filming the lead role in the independent film THERESE Raquin with Elizabeth Olsen and Jessica Lange, as well as Joel and Ethan Coen's Inside Llewyn Davis. His recent features also include THE BOURNE LEGACY forUniversal Pictures, Drive opposite Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan, Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch and Atlas Independent's first film, Revenge for Jolly! His original song "Never Had," which he wrote and performs in the upcoming film Ten Years, is generating Academy Award® consideration buzz.
