Off-Broadway's Kimberly Faye Greenberg Lands Supporting Role in Indie Film MADE FROM SCRATCH

Kimberly Faye Greenberg, the first and only actress to perform Leading Roles in two Off-Broadway musicals at the same time (Sylvia Fine in Danny and Sylvia, the Danny Kaye Musical, which had a successful three year run, and, Fanny Brice in the solo show One Night With Fanny Brice, for which she received critical acclaim) has landed a supporting role in the new independent film MADE FROM SCRATCH, which begins shooting November 27th in Atlanta, GA.

Greenberg, plays the role of Kristy Mobley; the stunning, conservative, fashionable former “mean girl” who’s only gotten better at it and seems hell-bent on making the new bride, Sahara (played by Mallorie Halsall) as miserable as possible.

Made From Scratch is a film about the importance of sisterhood and the strength of friendship you sometimes need, just to survive. Written and directed by David-Matthew Barnes, Made from Scratch provides a voice for women that will resonate and impact with hope.

David-Matthew Barnes is a filmmaker, novelist, playwright, poet, and teacher.

David-Matthew is the award-winning author of the novels Mesmerized (Bold Strokes Books, 2010), Accidents Never Happen (Bold Strokes Books, 2011), Swimming to Chicago (Bold Strokes Books, 2011), The Jetsetters (Bold Strokes Books 2012), Wonderland (Bold Strokes Books, 2013), Ambrosia (2012), The Marijuana Mermaids (2013), Stronger Than This (Bold Strokes Books, 2014), and Fifty Yards and Holding (Bold Strokes Books, 2015), and the author of the forthcoming poetry collection Souvenir Boy.

David-Matthew wrote and directed the coming-of-age film Frozen Stars (starring Lana Parrilla of ABC's Once Upon A Time), which received worldwide distribution. He is the screenwriter of the upcoming horror film Scare Me, Kill Me, the writer and director of the indie film Made From Scratch, the co-writer of the upcoming television series The Other Side of Pretty, and the co-host of the talk radio show People You Should Know. In addition, David-Matthew is the CEO of the Pinwheel Entertainment Group, a creative company formed to develop and producing new projects in film, television, publishing, and theatre. He is also the founder and primary instructor of Write Your Heart Out: Online Writing Workshops.

To date, he has written over forty stage plays that have been performed in three languages in eight countries including And The Winner Is (Playscripts, Inc.), Are You All Right in There? (Playscripts, Inc.), Clean (JAC Publishing), Pensacola (JAC Publishing), Sloe Gin Fizz (JAC Publishing), Somebody's Baby (Heuer Publishing), Temporary Heroes (Brooklyn Publishers), and Unrequited (Brooklyn Publishers). In 2012, a collection of David-Matthew's one-act plays was published by JAC Publishing featuring the all-female scripts Bracelets and Boyfriends, Don't Mention It, and False Hopes.

Two of his stage plays, the all-female Sky Lines and the all-male We Never Made it to Paris, received world premieres at The Producer's Club in New York City. His popular one-act play Baby in the Basement was an official selection for the NYC 15-Minute Play Festival.

David-Matthew's literary work has been featured in over one hundred publications including The Best Stage Scenes, The Best Men's Stage Monologues, The Best Women's Stage Monologues, The Comstock Review, Review Americana, and The Southeast Review.

David-Matthew's young adult novel Swimming to Chicago was recognized by the Rainbow Project Committee of the American Library Association. The novel was a finalist for the 2012 Rainbow Books, a list comprised of outstanding books for GLBTQ children and teens. Swimming to Chicago was also short listed for a 2011 Independent Literary Award. For his young adult novel Mesmerized, David-Matthew received a 2011 LGBT Rainbow Award for Best Coming of Age/Young Adult Novel.

David-Matthew was selected as the national winner of the 2011 Hart Crane Memorial Poetry Award. In addtion, he has received the Carrie McCray Literary Award, the Slam Boston Award for Best Play, and earned double awards for poetry and playwriting in the World AIDS Day Writing Contest. He also received national awards in the Split This Rock Poetry Contest and the New Works for Young Women playwriting competition. He is the winner of two Elly Awards from the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance, an award from Writer’s Digest, and an award from the Florida Freelance Writers Association.

David-Matthew graduated magna cum laude from Oglethorpe University with a degree in communications and English. He received a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina.

David-Matthew is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
