Tonight, May 30th, NewFilmmakers presents its Documentary Series, Short Film Program and the new feature MY LIFE AS ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

The 6:00 PM Documentary Series presents two films. Scott Bison ROCKY FLATS: LEGACY (2011, 23 minutes) is about former nuclear workers from Rocky Flats Plant near Denver, Colorado, who have been fighting to obtain compensation for work- related illnesses including cancer, beryllium disease, and other chronic illnesses. In Gun Holmstrom & Juan Recaman THE POWER TO HEAL (2012, 29 minutes) the filmmakers traveled to Putumayo, south of Colombia to partake in a ritual which at the centre needs the use of a powerful medicinal plant, skillfully attended by a local shaman.

At 7:15 PM, the Short Film Program presents four new films. David Yaloz ETHAN - SHORT FILM (2011, 8 minutes) is about making choices through darkness or light. In Pierre-Emmanuel Plassart HARMONY (2011, 10 minutes) Vanessa leads a quiet life as a housewife. It is only when she realizes the true nature of the town that she decides to flee the barbaric customs of its inhabitants including her own family. In Van Nguyen HELL GRACE (2011, 19 minutes) you relived the same day everyday in the home you grew up in, but the actions you take pile up. In Ryan Geiger NO GOING BACK (2011, 19 minutes) three friends travel deep into the woods to bury a dead girl. But when a mistake is made and they need to go back and find her, some things don't stay buried for long.

Finally, at 8:30 PM, the Feature Presentation is Shari Berman MY LIFE AS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (2010, 91 minutes). Abe Lincoln's really a girl. In this dark, surreal comedy, Cindy Rossberg has apparently killed her fiance on her wedding day. Her psychiatrist encourages her to move forward with her life. However, as she attempts to do so she finds reality too difficult to contend with as she is bound to the events of the past. To cope, she starts envisioning the situations and people around her exactly as she feels about them and fictionalizes her past. As things progress, she finds herself haunted by her childhood self-dressed in an Abraham Lincoln costume and her dead fiance who enjoys drinking red wine and singing to her in public parks.
