According to The Hollywood Reporter, BIRDMAN Golden Globe winner Michael Keaton is in negotiations to lead THE FOUNDER, helmed by John Lee Hancock and written by Robert Siegel.

Produced by FilmNation and The Combine, the film will delve into the "origin story" of the McDonald's empire in the United States.

THE FOUNDER is described as "a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of making food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire."

After Birdman, Keaton's upcoming projects include Spotlight and Minions. He is also in talks to join Kong: Skull Island. Among the actor's past film credits are Need For Speed, Robocop, Batman, Beetlejuice and more.
