As of today, September 4, it has already been a year since comedy icon Joan Rivers passed away, and her friends, family, and entertainment industry colleagues have been making dedications to her in many ways.

Rivers' daughter Melissa took to the late comedienne's Twitter account today to post a touching message. "This was a year of firsts: first holidays, first birthdays, first everything's without mom, without grandma," writes Melissa Rivers from @Joan_Rivers. Check out the full post below.

"While it has been difficult," Melissa continued, "I've been amazed by the outpouring of love and overwhelming kindness we've received from family, friends and people whose lives were touched by the woman they knew as Joan - a woman we all miss so very much."

E! aired a special in honor of Joan Rivers on the anniversary of her death, entitled, "Celebrating Joan." Click here to watch highlights.

Rivers was long a fixture on the New York scene, with numerous standup appearances, benefit appearances, and a long association with the theatrical community. She was a constant presence at opening nights and special events, and never hesitated to express her love for theatre and live entertainment.

Her Broadway credits include Fun City, Broadway Bound and Sally Marr...and her escorts, for which she received a Drama Desk Nomination as Outstanding Actress in a Play and a Tony Nomination for Best Actress in a Play.
