Matthew Modine Joins Cast of Steve Jobs Biopic
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew Modine has joined the cast of the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic. The actor will join previously announced cast member Ashton Kutcher who will star as the late Apple founder.
Modine is set to portray John Sculley, who was recruited by Jobs in 1983 to head the company only to fire Jobs two years later. He remained with Apple as CEO until 1993. Modine commented yesterday, "It's my feeling -- and I think there's a lot of people who feel -- that had John Sculley not fired Steve Jobs from Apple Computer and [let] Steve go on the journey that he did when he was away from Apple Computer, that we wouldn't be speaking about Steve Jobs today."
The film will be helmed by Swing Vote's Joshua Michael Stern and will follow Job's life from 1971 into the 21st century. Book of Mormon's Josh Gad will portray Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the film, which tentatively schedule for a release this fall. Shooting began this month with early scenes being shot in the actual Los Altos home where Jobs grew up and in the actual garage where he founded Apple.
