Margo Martindale Joins Cast of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Film

As first reported on Deadline.com, Margo Martindale has joined the cast of the big screen adaptation of Tracy Letts' AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. The actress joins previously announced cast members Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Juliette Lewis and Chris Cooper.

Directed by John Wells, Letts will pen the film adaptation- a Jean Doumanian /Smokehouse Production, to be produced by George Clooney & Grant Heslov, Jean Doumanian, Steve Traxler. Martindale will portray Mattie Fae Aiken, wife of Charles Aiken (Cooper) and "jaded sister" of Streep's Violet Weston. Filming is set to begin on September 24 in Oklahoma.

Martindale received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play, for her Broadway debut performance, as Big Mama in a 2004 revival of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof opposite Ashley Judd, Jason Patric and Ned Beatty. In 1987, she starred in the original Off-Broadway New York stage production of Steel Magnolias, in the role of Truvy, which was played by Dolly Parton in the film version. Other Off-Broadway productions include Always...Patsy Cline and The Sugar Bean Sisters. She received a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2011 for her performance in the FX series 'Justified.'
