Camelot has found its chosen king.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Liam Garrigan (24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY) has been cast as King ARTHUR in ONCE UPON A TIME. The actor will debut on the show's season five premiere and will be a regular on the show. King ARTHUR is not the first of the characters of the legendary Camelot to appear in the show however. Viewers are already acquainted with Sir Lancelot who has at this point in the series fallen from the graces of the KINGDOM because of an as of yet uncast Guinevere.

"As we do on Once Upon a Time, we're doing our own twist on Camelot, on Arthur's background and on his relationships with Merlin, Guinevere and Lancelot," executive producer Adam Horowitz and Edwart Kitsis told EW.

Season five is set to premiere on September 27, 2015 at 8pm on ABC, with Camelot playing a large part in the new season.

Liam Garrigan is an English theatre and television actor. As a youth he attended classes at Kingston upon Hull's Northern Stage Company and was a student at Wyke College, Kingston upon Hull.

Garrigan trained as a professional actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the City of London. He has appeared in BBC TV dramas Holby City, Doctors, The Chase and ITV1's Agatha Christie's Marple. He also portrayed Alfred in the Starz TV miniseries The Pillars of the Earth. He appeared in Ultimate Force as Corporal Edward Dwyer during the third series. He also starred in the 2008 and 2010 seasons of Irish drama series, RTÉ's Raw. In January 2011, Garrigan starred in the second series of BBC One's wartime drama serial Land Girls. In January 2014, Garrigan appeared in Silent Witness.
