According to The Hollywood Reporter, Broadway's LEND ME A TENOR co-stars Tony Shalhoub and Anthony LaPaglia have signed on for the upcoming "gender-swapping action movie" TOMBOY, A REVENGER'S TALE from Halter Hill.

Also joining the cast is AMERICAN CRIME's Caitlin Gerard. The trio will appear alongside previously announced stars Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver.

Hill's script (he will also direct) "centers on an ace assassin (Rodriguez) who is double-crossed by gangsters and falls into the hands of rogue surgeon (Weaver) known as 'The Doctor,' who turns him into a woman. The hitman (now a hitwoman) sets out for revenge, aided by a nurse named Johnnie (Gerard), who also has secrets."

Shalhoub is slated to play "a Californian psychiatrist who specializes in unusual cases". LaPaglia will take on the role of 'Honest John', described as a "criminal who operates under the guise of a small business with many different entrepreneurial investments".

Shalhoub was nominated for a Tony Award for his recent performance in Broadway's ACT ONE. His other credits on the Great White Way include GOLDEN BOY, CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER, THE HEIDI CHRONICLES and THE ODD COUPLE. Before 'TENOR', LaPaglia took the New York stage in A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE and THE ROSE TATTOO.

Shalhoub is well known for portraying the title role in the TV series MONK. He has also appeared on the small screen in WE ARE MEN and NURSE JACKIE. He recently lent his voice to TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and will return for the upcoming sequel. LaPaglia's recent film credits include NEWCOMER, HOLDING THE MAN, THIS ISN'T FUNNY, THE EICHMANN SHOW, BIG STONE GAP, A GOOD MARRIAGE, CRAZY KIND OF LOVE and more.
