Kelsey Grammer to Join THE EXPENDABLES 3?

Deadline is reporting that Broadway veteran Kelsey Grammer is in talks to take on the role of 'Bonaparte' in THE EXPENDABLES 3 -- a part originally set for Nicolas Cage.

Grammer would join previously announced cast members Sly Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes and more.

Grammer's role -- 'Bonaparte' -- is a former mercenary who joins the Expendables on their mission. Sources previously confirmed that the film follows "a younger group of tech-savvy action heroes who initially clash with the older crew, though they eventually team up to save the day."

Grammer's upcoming film projects include Reach Me, Think Like a Man Too, Transformers: Age of Extinction and Bunyan and Babe. He just finished his run in the TV series Boss. He is well known for his Emmy-winning portrayal of 'Dr. Frasier Crane' in the long-running sitcom Frasier. His other TV credits include The Simpsons, 30 Rock, Hank, Back to You and Cheers.

Grammer starred on Broadway in the 2010 transfer of La Cage aux Folles, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. His past Broadway credits include Macbeth and Othello, as well as off-Broadway's Sunday in the Park with George, Quartermaine's Terms and Plenty.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 is set to hit theaters on August 15, 2014.
