According to Entertainment Weekly, Kaya Scodelario has signed on to join Brenton Thwaites and Johnny Depp in Disney's PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5.

As THR previously announced, Thwaites "will play an Orlando Bloom/Will Turner equivalent in the new movie. The character's name is Henry, and he's a British soldier."

Javier Bardem is also in talks to play the film's villain. Geoffrey Rush has already signed on.

Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg will direct, with Jerry Bruckheimer returning to produce.

THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series has had immense financial success both domestically and globally. The last film in franchise, 2011's ON STRANGER TIDES, took in over $1 billion internationally.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES opened in theaters on May 20, 2011. Produced byBruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, this new episode from the legendary saga captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise-this time in Disney Digital 3D.

Depp returned to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise. When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he's not sure if it's love-or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
