Today, AskMen, the leading men's lifestyle website with 17 million monthly readers, announced the results of their 8thannual Top 49 Most Influential Men, as determined by over 100,000 voters. Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and co-founder of Tesla Motors and PayPal, takes top honors on the list, followed by No. 2 Jason Collins who famously came out as the first publicly gay NBA star this year, and No. 3 Bryan Cranston, star of AMC's wildly popular Breaking Bad. Kanye West at No. 41 is the only man to be named on the list all 8 years (however he fell from No. 31 in 2012). Jay-Z (No. 13) and LeBron James (No. 21) are right behind him with appearances spanning multiple lists.

2013 has proven to be the year that TV and "new" TV icons overshadowed film stars, with AMC's Bryan Cranston (No.3), Netflix's Reed Hastings (No. 8), FX's Charlie Hunnam (No. 22), HBO's Game of Thrones fictional villain Walder Frey (No. 40) and NBC's Nick Offerman at No 42. The few film stars included on the list were Hugh Jackman at (No. 16) and crossover film stars such as Justin Timberlake (No. 12) and The Rock (No. 45), while Hollywood A-listers like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp were nowhere to be seen.

Additionally, with Jimmy Fallon set to take over a more prominent late-night position, he was voted to the No. 10 spot on this year's list after Being left off in 2012, but his rivals didn't fare as well - Jimmy Kimmel made the list at No. 19, while there was no space for the night-time old guard of Conan, Leno, or Letterman.

Another trend: political and religious leaders made a big dent in this year's top 49. Vladimir Putin outranked President Barack Obama No. 11 to No. 17, with Nelson Mandela taking the No. 5 spot and Hassan Rouhani coming in at No. 31. Pope Francis is also included in the list at No. 25 - which marks the first time a Pope made it into AskMen's Most Influential Males.

James Bassil, Publisher of AskMen says:

"This year's list shows just how powerful TV has become again - our readers chose more TV actors and hosts than ever before, highlighting their increasing influence on everyday lives, while bankable Hollywood names like Clooney and Depp are absent. "

The 2013 Edition of The Top 49 Men is brought to readers by Wild Turkey Bourbon and its bold new movement, #Nevertamed. Highlighted by 5 real-life stories of men and women who never follow the herd, trust in their instincts and push themselves to do the remarkable, Wild Turkey's #Nevertamed is a perfect complement to AskMen's list of visionaries and leaders who found success by staying true to their own passions and ideals.
