According to Hollywood Elsewhere, Tony nominee Josh Gad (Broadway's Book of Mormon) is in talks to portray famed film critic Roger Ebert in an upcoming indie drama titled RUSS & ROGER GO BEYOND. The film's producer David Permut revealed the news to the site.

With a script from SNL's Christopher Cluess, the fill will center on the relationship between film critic Ebert and filmmaker Russ Meyer, who teamed for 1970's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. Will Ferrell is also reportedly set to star in the film in the role of Meyer. Gad and Farrell will soon be seen together in the upcoming comedy The Wedding Ringer, set to hit theaters on January 16th.

Josh Gad will next be seen in the role of stand-up comic Sam Kinison in Kinison, a biopic that will be helmed by Larry Charles and produced by David Permut from a script by Rich Wilkes. He starred, co-created and executive produced the 2012 NBC comedy series 1600 Penn and has appeared on Broadway in 'Book of Mormon', for which he received a Tony nomination and '25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.' He recently voiced Snowman Olaf in Disney's animated hit, Frozen.
