Jared Leto to Replace Will Smith in BRILLIANCE?

According to Deadline, Oscar winner Jared Leto is in negotiations to replace Will Smith in Julius Onah's film adaptation of Marcus Sakey's novel BRILLIANCE. Noomi Rapace is also starring in the film, to be adapted by David Koepp.

The film centers on "a world where a rare set of people are born with extraordinary abilities and are called "brilliants." At the center of the story is a federal agent with great hunting gifts who is drafted to track down a terrorist, another such brilliant who intends to start a civil war."

Should Leto sign on, it would be his first role following DALLAS BUYERS CLUB.

Rapace is best known for leading the Swedish film adaptations of Stieg Larsson's GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO trilogy, as well as Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS. She can next be seen in CHILD 44 and ANIMAL RESCUE.
