JUSTIN BIEBER Tells 'Belieber' Fans 'I'm Officially Retiring'
Pop superstar Justin Bieber has officially announced his retirement from the music industry. The 19-year-old took to Twitter on Christmas Eve, December 24th to share the news with his fans. "My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring," he tweeted.
However, the singer also hinted that it may not be the last his 'Belieber' fans will see of him. "The media talks a lot about me," he continued. "They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle."
He concluded the announcement with: "Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER."
Last week, BWW reported that Bieber had teased news of his retirement during an appearance on radio station Power 106 in Los Angeles, revealing he would be retiring from the music industry after his latest album 'Journals' is released, telling the show's hosts, 'After the new album, I'm actually retiring man. I'm retiring.'
Shocked by the news, host Kurt Alexander, aka, Big Boy, exclaimed, 'What?' as a gasp was heard from other members of the radio show. Bieber backtracked on the news a bit later, clarifying, 'I want to grow as an artist and I'm taking a step out, I want My Music to mature.'
Bieber's manager Scooter Braun told Ryan Seacrest on December 18 that he wanted Justin to take a year off after his new movie Believe comes out on Christmas day. "I'm telling him after this movie, I want him to take next year off and just take a break," Scooter said. "He can still live in the studio and work on the next album, which is what he wants to do, but I just want him to take some time to himself, so he can have that time alone cause he's been working since he was 12 years old."
The singer has been involved in a recent string of controversies, ranging from underage drinking to in spray-painting public property in Australia.
Bieber has received numerous awards, including both Artist of the Year Awards at the 2010 American Music Awards and the 2012 American Music Awards, and was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards.
With a global fan base, termed as "Beliebers", and over 40 million followers on Twitter, he was named by Forbes magazine in 2012 as the third-most powerful celebrity in the world.
