In the mythical kingdom of Elysium, good enters into battle with the supreme evil: the dark forces of the undead. This action-packed novel illustrates through the tropes of light and dark how the power of evil will never prevail. Previously titled Alamptria: Red Moon Rising, winner of the Buzillions Reviewers' Choice Award, the book has been revised and revamped. Now called Alamptria 1: Bloodstone Crypt, the fantasy horror novel replete with vampire massacres, fight scenes of epic proportion, and the politics of love has been re-released by Double Dragon publishing to satisfy a whole new generation of fantasy horror novel fans.

In the far-off land of Alamptria, the kingdom of Elysium takes pride in its peaceful life. All the members of the royal family, the Seatons, are knights in possession of extraordinary powers. With their magical claymores, they journey on missions seeking to maintain a harmonious existence for all the citizens of their land. Caprius Seaton is soon to marry his long-time love, Melina, and the family is enjoying rejoicing their impending nuptials.

What they don't know is in the chasms of Mount Drone, the undead forces are slowly gathering strength. Lord Makoor and his evil henchman Tyrus Clore have summoned all their vampires as they prepare to wage the ultimate war against the people of Elysium. Their attack begins stealthily: they plant one of their own among the royal battalion to serve as a spy and bring down the army. Then while the Seaton brothers and their fellow knights fight the descending scourge, Tyrus Clore swoops in to fill Caprius Seaton's shoes and plant seeds of doubt with his fiancée, Melina. Her slow unraveling of trust for her beloved and increasing ardor for Clore counter balance the efforts the army makes to vanquish the undead and regain their kingdom.

When Dragus Seaton is bitten by a vampire and slowly begins his descent into the undead world, it becomes a race against time: can the army extinguish the vampires' hunger for human blood and dominance before Dragus' life dies out?

Richard Davis in his review on Amazon.com states:

Once you're acquainted with the players, locales and races in this intriguing book, you'll feel right at home as a fantasy fan. It is accessible to fans of other genres as well, as the author does a fine job of pulling you into his world. Political intrigue between factions, interesting characters and magical weapons. All of these are standard fantasy fair, but the approach and life that is breathed into the world by Valicek is equal to any of the current favored authors of Alamptia.

Other reviewers have likened the novel to work by J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling, claiming it is exciting, breathes new life into the fantasy horror genres, and is a page-turner.

Richard A. Valicek lives in Toronto, Canada.

Alamptria 1: Bloodstone Crypt is published by Double Dragon Publishing. It is available as a trade paperback and online for the Nook, Ibook, Epub and Kindle at retailers throughout North America.
