BWW Recap: GRIMM Continues Its Wild Ride in 'Dyin' on a Prayer'

Another week, another Wesen - or something like it, anyway. This week's episode provides a very interesting creature and gives us a bit more insight into Nick's predicament. Oh, and we get to see Adalind trapped inside a crying castle, but we'll get to that.

We pick up right where we left off, with Elizabeth, Monroe, and Rosalee in the spice shop. Elizabeth has handily figured out pretty much every detail of what had to have happened to Adalind in order for the spell to have worked, and as she's explaining things a brick sails through the window, marked with an ancient symbol. I guess not all Wesen are tech-savvy, since an angry emoji via text message could have also gotten the job done, but this method definitely made an impact. As Monrosalee realize - with Elizabeth's help, as Elizabeth is the new Rosalee - that it's a reminder that some Wesen don't approve of mixed marriages, Elizabeth tells them to suck it up and get back to work.

Meanwhile, Nick and Juliette discover Trubel has left the building. She did leave her knight behind, though. Two cryptic messages in under five minutes? Well done, GRIMM. Nick finds her in the trailer, which she'd hoped for, and she finally tells him about Agent Chavez and the invitation to her super-secret club. Nick convinces her to come home, telling her that it would be far more obvious if she took off so suddenly, and she agrees.

On to the beast of the week! We meet a mother and her young son, Sarah and David, respectively. Her dreaded ex shows up at the door and muscles his way in, injuring both of them in the process. Turns out he's a Wesen and reveals himself to scare the little guy, but mama introduces him to a fireplace tool and escapes with David in tow. Once at the hospital her frantic brother pays a short visit and vows to end things - not quite how I'd expected, though.

Sarah's brother, who we discover is a rabbi, begins to exact his revenge with a very old scroll and a jar of clay. We don't have to wonder about that long as we then see the drunken ex, Keith, stumbling around outside Sarah's house, bellowing and limping some from the Tonya Harding-inspired poker attack. He doesn't make it far before he steps into an odd puddle of goo, which quickly forms into a rather awesome clay man and pretty much devours him.

The Dream Team arrives at the house to find Keith dead in the yard with clay all over every surface and inside every orifice. His brother pushes his way into the crime scene and claims Sarah had to have killed Keith, so Nick and Hank go to see her in the hospital and bring Trubel for good measure. Trubel entertains David and discusses the age old good guys vs. bad guys conundrum and the presence of monsters while Nick and Hank tell Sarah and Rabbi Ben about Keith's murder.

Ben is more than a little freaked out to discover what he's done and calls Hank to confess to the murder. When the detectives meet with him, he divulges the legend of the ancient clay and explains that he prayed for the protection of his nephew, managing to raise a golem in the process. He hadn't believed it would work until he heard about Keith's death and is now overcome with guilt. Nick and Hank agree to test the residue in the jar against the clay found on the victim, and just as they get the positive test results Sean makes his triumphant return to the precinct. He's barely settled into his office when Wu approaches him with his concerns about Trubel, which Sean promises to look into. I'm sure he'll get right on that.

Arriving home from the hospital, Sarah, Ben, and David find Keith's brother waiting for them. He accuses Sarah of Keith's murder and succeeds in frightening David - he, like his brother, is Wesen. He flees when the police are called, but when Nick, Hank, and Ben go looking for him they track him down just in time to see him devoured by the golem, and they question Ben about the creature's continued presence. He tells them it will likely remain, waiting to protect David any time he feels threatened, but he knows how to get rid of it - the only problem being that they'll need to summon it somehow.

Monrosalee share a tender moment, reminding us that the poor couple hasn't been able to honeymoon yet, and he tries to convince her that maybe the brick didn't mean anything all that bad, but she's not buying it. Elizabeth finishes brewing and convinces the happy couple to go home for the night by going all Hexengross, and when they return the next day they find a very convincing Adalind waiting for them. Although Monroe is ready to throttle her she doesn't fool Rosalee for long - it's really Elizabeth. Score one for Rosalee. Elizabeth returns to her own form and reveals there is one final ingredient needed...

Having called Trubel to sit with Sarah and David at David's request, Hank, Nick, and Ben return to Sarah's home and Nick does his best to frighten David in hopes of making the Golem appear. It doesn't work immediately, but just as Sarah runs outside to find out what's happening it appears and lunges for Nick. Ben attempts to destroy it with the Shem he prepared but the golem swats him away like a fly and takes Nick down next. Trubel flies in to save the day but is quickly engulfed, driving David to attack the golem with his "good guy" action figure until it collapses into a pile of clay. That goes to show you - action figures can destroy bad guys FOR REAL. I already knew that, courtesy of my six-year-old, but if you didn't know you've now been educated.

The episode can't be over without a little Adalind, right? The real one, not the Elizabeth-Adalind. We find her following the crazy guy up a staircase in the castle, and since she can't keep quiet as told she wakes up several disturbing faces in the wall, who all claim to know where her baby is and then begin to cry and flood the room. We last see her trying to swim to the top with little room to breathe - how will she escape this one?

Finally, Elizabeth, Monroe, and Rosalee pay Nick a little visit, in which they tell him they have the cure nearly prepared, except for one little ingredient... Juliette. She is comically startled to see everyone as the episode ends, and we know she's against Nick becoming a Grimm again, but the previews reveal trouble to come as some of the Wesen Nick has busted in the past learn he's no longer a Grimm - Bud's fault, it seems - and come for revenge. Juliette appears to want him to regain his powers in light of the danger he's in, but he doesn't want her hurt.

Will he agree to be a Grimm again? Personally, I hope so. I don't like to see him standing around while Trubel cleans up his Wesen messes, and I'd like to see the two of them fighting together more. I'm still hoping we get more on Trubel's background, and if Chavez's group comes for her Nick will need to be prepared to help.
