GRAVITY & HER Tie for 'Best Picture' at Los Angeles Film Critics Awards; Full List of Winners!

Los Angeles Film Critics Awards were held today, Sunday, Dec. 8. The top awards for 'Best Picture,' 'Best Actress,' and 'Best Supporting Actor' resulted in a surprising three-way tie, with GRAVITY and HER taking the prize for best film. Check out the full list of winners below!

Gravity is a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. In the film, Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth... and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space. The last time Venice opened with a science fiction movie was in 2000 with Space Cowboys by Clint Eastwood, at the 57th Film Festival, directed by Alberto Barbera.

Written and directed by Spike Jonze, HER stars Oscar nominees Joaquin Phoenix ("The Master," "Walk the Line"), Amy Adams ("The Master," "Doubt"), Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"), Olivia Wilde (upcoming "Rush") and Scarlett Johansson ("Lost in Translation").

It is produced by Megan Ellison, Spike Jonze and Vincent Landay. Daniel Lupi, Natalie Farrey and Chelsea Barnard serve as executive producers. The film reunites many of Jonze's longtime creative collaborators, including production designer KK Barrett, editor Eric Zumbrunnen and costume designer Casey Storm, who worked together on "Where the Wild Things Are," "Adaptation." and "Being John Malkovich." Joining them is director of photography Hoyte Van Hoytema ("Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") and editor Jeff Buchanan (HBO's "Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak," which Jonze co-directed). The music is composed by Arcade Fire.
