Fox is keeping the X-Men around following the conclusion of Bryan Singer's latest trilogy.

According to Deadline, the studio is currently developing a spinoff of the series, titled THE NEW MUTANTS, with THE FAULT IN OUR STARS' Josh Boone on board to direct. He'll also co-write the script alongside Knate Gwaltney.

Though no details have been confirmed as to who will appear, the report notes that the project "is already part of the X-Men Comics universe, introduces a new crop of mutant characters born with special powers."

The final film in the current series, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

The previous X-MEN film, 'DAYS OF FUTURE PAST,' starred Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halley Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Evan Jonigkeit.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original "X-Men" film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change The Past -- to save our future.
