First Look at THE HOBBIT's 'Smaug' Unveiled on New Zealand Airplane
According to The Huffington Post, Hobbit fans had their first glance at the dragon 'Smaug' from the upcoming film, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." The 177-foot image was revealed on the side of an Air New Zealand plane, which today will journey to Los Angeles just in time for the film's premiere at the Dolby Theatre.
A spokesman for the airline commented that the image will remain on the plane until the opening of the third Hobbit film next year, in the hopes of boosting tourism to New Zealand.
"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug", opens 3D, 2D and Imax theaters on December 13. The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
