According to Deadline, rising star Felicity Jones has been tapped to lead Juan Antonio Bayona's film adaptation of Patrick Ness' children's A MONSTER CALLS.

A MONSTER CALLS is officially described as:

"At seven minutes past midnight, thirteen-year-old Conor wakes to find a monster outside his bedroom window. But it isn't the monster Conor's been expecting- he's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the nightmare he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments. The monster in his backyard is different. It's ancient. And wild. And it wants something from Conor. Something terrible and dangerous. It wants the truth."

Jones will reportedly play 'Mum' in the film, with Liam Neeson wanted for 'Monster.'

A MONSTER CALLS was the original idea of author Siobhan Dowd who died from cancer before penning the book herself. Ness then picked it up and published.

Jones' next projects include The Invisible Woman, True Story, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. She appeared on Broadway in Metamorphoses in 2002.

Other film credits include: Breathe In, Cheerful Weather for the Wedding, Hysteria, Albatross, The Tempest, Brideshead Revisited, and the TV series Meadowlands and The Worst Witch, among others.
