FSLC Postpones Tonight's Fundraiser with Tom Cruise in Wake of CT Shootings
The Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced that they have postponed tonight's fundraiser and conversation with Tom Cruise in honor of the Newtown, CT shooting that occurred last Friday.
"Out of respect for the families who lost loved ones in Newtown, Connecticut, we are postponing tonight's event," said Rose Kuo, Executive Directer of the Film Society. "We extend our love and condolences to our neighbors. Our community grieves with yours,"
The event was to benefit the 50th anniversary fund which supports K-12 education and new artist programs. In addition, Cruise was set to give audience members a sneak peek of his upcoming film JACK REACHER.
REACHER was also slated to have its world premiere this past Saturday, Dec. 15, but also out of respect to the victims of the shooting, Cruise requested that the premiere be postponed, as well.
The film opens in theaters on December 21. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the story is based on the Lee Child character and stars Cruise, Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Alexia Fast, Robert Duvall, Jai Courtney, and Werner Herzog. Jack Reacher was written by Josh Olson and McQuarrie.
As of now, neither Cruise or the FSLC have announced the rescheduled date for the fundraising event.
