Evan Jonigkeit will play a young, slightly different-looking version of 'Toad' in the upcoming X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I read a lot of comic books. I found out the storyline of my character," Jonigkeit said in an interview with MTV. "X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it's a generation story of how he came to be. It's really cool."

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will hit theaters on May 23, 2014. The movie also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence. Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage and Shawn Ashmore.

The film will act as something of a sequel to 'First Class'. Days of Future Past is taken from two issues of Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men in 1981. The story was set in an alternate future in which surviving mutants were confined to concentration camps, while most of the X-Men had been killed. In order to stop this dismal future from unfolding, the X-Men had to stop a specific event from occurring in the past.

Jonigkeit's past credits include the movie The Gift and the TV series Amazing Sports Stories and As the World Turns. The actor has appeared on Broadway in 2011's High and this year's The Snow Geese.
