On the eve of Cannes, Dolphin Films International and IM Global have announced robust sales for "Max Steel," the highly anticipated, live-action feature film franchise based on Mattel's popular superhero property of the same name. The announcement was made today by Dolphin Films CEO Bill O'Dowd and IM Global CEO Stuart Ford.

One of the hottest new titles to hit the international marketplace in 2014, the film was introduced to distributors from all over the world in Berlin through a strategic partnership between Dolphin Films International, Dolphin's new international sales division headed by Christine Perrin-Stocco, and IM Global.

International distribution deals have since been struck with a number of key territories including France (Metropolitan Film Export), Germany (Universum Film GmbH), Italy (Lucky Red), Latin America (Leda Films), Russia/CIS (Central Partnership), Greece (Feel Good Entertainment), Turkey (Media Max), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro (Pa Dora), Poland (Polsat), Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam (MVP Entertainment), Indonesia (Cinema 21), Philippines (Pioneer Films), South Korea (Focus & Company), Israel (United King Video), Middle East (Selim Ramia & Co.), and South Africa (Ster-Kinekor).

"We couldn't be more thrilled with the response from international distributors, media and the overall market," said Bill O'Dowd, CEO, Dolphin Films. "We're very fortunate to have a superb partner in Stuart and his entire team at IM Global, and that distributors worldwide are reacting so positively to the global marketing power of Mattel, our guaranteed wide theatrical release in the U.S. through Open Road, and to the action-packed script by Marvel Studios veteran Christopher Yost. We're looking forward to working with our partners to make 'Max Steel' the start of a blockbuster franchise all over the world."

Said Ford, "'Max Steel' is a great property that delivers some unique commercial opportunities, and it's been an exciting challenge to spend The Past few months educating the distribution community to its potential. We're delighted with the results so far."

Currently shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina, "Max Steel" stars Academy Award® nominee Andy Garcia as Dr. Miles Edwards, Ben Winchell (Disney's "A.N.T. Farm," "Necessary Roughness") as Max McGrath™ and Ana Villafañe ("Hiding," "Los Americans") as Sofia Martinez. The screenplay was written by Marvel Studios veteran Christopher Yost ("Thor: The Dark World") and the film is being directed by award-winning director Stewart Hendler ("Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn," "H+"). Bill O'Dowd is producing, alongside Academy Award nominated family entertainment veteran Julia Pistor ("Charlotte's Web," "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.") for Mattel's Playground Productions.

The "Max Steel" film is an in-depth "origin" story packed with captivating characters and fast-paced action. The plot chronicles the adventures of 16-year old Max McGrath and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the turbo-charged superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth, and fighting the mysterious forces threatening their world.

"Max Steel," which is being produced by Dolphin Films and Mattel, is slated for a wide theatrical release domestically by Open Road Films in 2015. The film is being handled internationally by Dolphin Films International in partnership with IM Global, a worldwide leader in film distribution and sales.
