According to Deadline, director and writer Ryan Murphy has just optioned the rights to "Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life Of Huguette Clark And The Spending Of A Great American Fortune." This biography is a New York Times Bestseller by Pulitzer-winning Bill Dedman and Paul Clark Newell Jr.

"Empty Mansions" was recently released in September 2013 and quickly rose to the bestseller list. It is a captivating look at Huguette Clark, a reclusive heiress who passed away in 2011 at 104 years and left behind a $300 million+ fortune. Before becoming a recluse, Clark had a fascinating life, which is what caught the attention of Dedman and Newell, and now Murphy.

This will not be Murphy's first book-to-film project if he chooses to go through with it. He directed both bestselling memoirs "Eat Pray Love" and "Running With Scissors." He is also the creator for the television shows Nip/Tuck, Glee, and American Horror Story.
