Country Singer/Songwriter Kaitlyn Baker to Make Hollywood Debut at Young Artist Awards

Rising country singer-songwriter Kaitlyn Baker will perform in Los Angeles at AMPLYFi in Hollywood on May 3, and at the 35thannual Young Artist Awards (YAA) in Studio City on May 4. The appearances will be her first in Southern California.

The 19-year-old from Pound, Virginia has been performing professionally since she was a young girl, and has co-written songs with many established Nashville songwriters. She recently signed a contract with Silvercreek Records in Nashville, and plans to release an album through Sony/RED this summer.

"I'm excited to be heading to LA for such a great event as the Young Artist Awards," Baker said. "It's all about supporting young people who dream of working in entertainment, and I can certainly relate to that."

The Young Artist Awards, which is a presentation of the nonprofit Young Artist Foundation, awards scholarships for financially or physically disadvantaged students in the performing arts. The event began in 1978 under the name Youth in Film Awards. Many past YAA honorees have gone on to successful careers as adults, including Jodie Foster, Diane Lane, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page and others.

This year's nominees for Best Performance in a Feature Film by a Leading Young Actor are Skylan Brooks ("The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete"), Chandler Canterbury ("Standing Up"), Miles Elliot ("Camp"), Liam James ("The Way Way Back") and Maxim Knight ("Medeas"). Nominees for Leading Young Actress include Annalise Basso ("Standing Up"), Megan Charpentier ("Mama"), Abigail Hargrove ("World War Z"), Sophie Nelisse ("The Book Thief") and Loreto Peralta ("Instructions Not Included").

Television series with cast members nominated include "Spooksville," "Life With Boys," "The Walking Dead," "The First Family," "LazyTown," "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "Raising Hope," "The Killing," "The Middle" and more. A complete list of nominees is available at www.youngartistawards.org.

The Young Artist Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 4 in the Empire Ballroom at the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel, 2825 Ventura Boulevard, Studio City, California 91604. Admission is primarily by invitation only, although a limited number of tickets are available to the public, through the event's website.
