Community Film Studio Santa Barbara presents their first feature-length film THE BET at the Arlington Theatre (Santa Barbara, CA) tonight, April 19th and 20th, 2013 at 7 p.m. This delightful romantic comedy marks the directorial debut of Finola Hughes, veteran film and television actress and local Carpinteria resident. The film was produced by Christine Fry, James Kahn, and Jack Presnal. Annie J. Dahlgren and Christina Eliason wrote the script, which pits a teenager against his grandfather in a wager over who will find love first. If the teen wins, he acquires his deceased father's vintage muscle car; and if the grandfather wins, the teen has to rebuild the family porch and re-do the landscaping.

Addison Smith, a senior in high school, lives with his single mom, Libby, and paternal grandfather Collier in a small Santa Barbara bungalow. Still practicing to get his driver's license, Addison has never been one to rush into things - including relationships with girls. Collier, in fact - a bit worried about his grandson's development - pressures him into a friendly bet: which of them will be the first to seduce a lady. Collier picks Addison's potential conquests at the high school, as Addison picks Collier's at the local retirement facility. As the bet plays itself out in this coming-of-age lighthearted drama, Addison's mom, Libby, is herself just starting to date again after the death of her husband several years before. What ensues is three generations of a family, all looking for love - sometimes in the right places, sometimes in the wrong ones, sometimes comically, sometimes poignantly. Along the way, they learn, and teach each other, lessons about love, life, maturity, and what it means to grow into adulthood.

Dr. Stuart Orenstein plays the role of the minister in The Bet. He advised, "Getting married in late life has its moments. If they knew what I know, would they still do it? If it were a double- wedding and the witness for the bride was marrying the witness for the groom, this wedding would make the NY Times! Ad-libbing marriage ceremonies can be fun!"

Tickets are available now for the World Premiere event, which will have limited seating on Friday April 19th and April 20th at 7:00pm. Advance tickets may be purchased now through Ticketmaster at www.TheBetMovie.com or directly at the Arlington box office. $12.50 General Admission; $40 VIP includes reserved seating and reception following with drinks/dessert and meet the director and stars of The Bet.
