The Music Hall has announced six new shows coming to its already robust fall season of performances, cinema, and literary events on stage and on screen in two theaters. Tickets go on sale first to Music Hall members Saturday, July 5 and are on sale to non-members starting Saturday, July 19.

"We're excited to be bringing back a couple of old favorites this fall -- including the hilarious comedian Ron White as well as the genre-defying Grammy winners The Mavericks," said Thérèse LaGamma, Deputy Director of Programming/Performing Arts Curator. "New to our Intimately Yours roster is the amazingly talented pop sensation Colbie Caillat. And the Music Hall Loft welcomes one of Boston's most buzzed about bands-Air Traffic Controller!"

Writers on the New England Stage will be welcoming Pulitzer-prize winning author E.O. Wilson this October, "Author and Harvard Prof E.O. Wilson is at the top of any naturalist's or scientist's "must see" list. It's a tremendous honor that such world renowned expert is coming to town - his event will be enjoyed by anyone who has thought for a moment about our planet earth and its species. Don't miss him!" says Margaret Talcott, Producer of Writers on a New England Stage.

Shows On Sale to Members July 5:

Monday, September 1, 2014, Historic Theater: Intimately Yours presents Colbie Caillat. Since her 2007 debut, Colbie Caillat has skyrocketed to fame. She has been honored with two Grammy Awards and sold over six million albums and ten million singles worldwide. Her breakthrough hit "Bubbly" remains one of the best-selling digital tracks in history; her multi-platinum debut Coco hit #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart upon release; and her sophomore set Breakthrough landed at #1. She will rock The Music Hall on Labor Day with her new Gypsy Heart Tour. Beyond music, Colbie is an avowed spokesperson and supporter for the The Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA, Farm Sanctuary, Surfrider Foundation, and Save The Music.

"Colbie Caillat has embraced soft rock, letting her surface shine and sparkle, letting her songs pulse with melody. . ." allmusic.com

Sunday, September 7, 2014, the Loft: National Theatre of London Live presents Medea. Terrible things breed in broken hearts. Medea is a wife and a mother. For the sake of her husband, Jason, she's left her home and borne two sons in exile. But when he abandons his family for a new life, Medea faces banishment and separation from her children. Cornered, she begs for one day's grace. It's time enough. She exacts an appalling revenge and destroys everything she holds dear. Helen McCrory (The Last of the Haussmans) takes the title role in Euripides' powerful tragedy, in a new version by Ben Power, directed by Carrie Cracknell.

Sunday, October 5, The Historic Theater: Hilarity at the Music Hall presents Ron White. One of most successful stand-ups in the country, Ron "Tater Salad" White is a classic storyteller, with tales lifted from real life-from the time he was a boy growing up in a small town in the middle of Texas oil country, to selling windows for a living in Arlington, to performing in sold-out theaters and arenas as a headlining comedian all across America. The razor-sharp, outrageously funny White first rose to fame as the cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking funnyman with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. All four of his comedy albums have charted #1 on the Billboard Comedy Charts; he has sold over 14 million albums (solo and with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour); has been nominated for two Grammys; and has consistently been one of the top three grossing stand up comedians on tour in America. As an actor, White played supporting roles in the films Horrible Bosses and Sex and the City 2.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014, Historic Theater: Writers On A New England Stage presents: E. O. Wilson. The Pulitzer Prize winner and Harvard professor emeritus visits with his new work examining what makes humans beings supremely different from all other species, and how advances in science and technology bring us great moral dilemmas. Don't miss hearing from the bestselling author of The Social Conquest of Earth and co-author of On Human Nature- the renowned naturalist, theorist and humanist E.O. Wilson.

Writers on a New England Stage is a partnership between The Music Hall and New Hampshire Public Radio. Media partner is Yankee magazine and companion bookstore is RiverRun Bookstore.

Saturday, October 25, the Loft: The District Singer-Songwriter Series: Air Traffic Controller. With a refreshing, modern day, indie rock sound, ATC further infuses its compositions with unforgettable pop sensibilities while keeping it honest, with autobiographical lyrics and well-crafted storytelling reminiscent of classic singer/songwriters. The band features Dave Munro on lead vocals and guitar; multi-instrumentalist Steve Scott on lead guitar, keys, and more; big brother Richie Munro on drums; Casey Sullivan on bass, banjo, and backing vocals; with violinist Alison Shipton and Kiara Perico on viola. The band often performs live accompanied on stage by an entire string section to capture and recreate its brilliant, full sound... one that consistently identifies Air Traffic Controller as one of the fastest rising original acts in the country

Wednesday, November 5: Intimately Yours: The Mavericks. This genre-busting band made fireworks when they first appeared. Now with their new album In Time they are promising to once again set the music world on fire. Raul Malo, their Cuban-American lead singer with a voice that we haven't heard the likes of since Roy Orbison, leads a group that fuses country with rock and roll. They reach new heights with sound that smacks the head and tears the heart. We are excited to welcome them back to The Music Hall!

The Music Hall is a performing arts center featuring curated entertainment from around the world in two theaters in its downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire campus - one, a landmark 1878 Victorian theater, designated an American Treasure for the Arts by the National Park Service's Save America's Treasures Program, the other the intimate Music Hall Loft around the corner, recently named "best performing arts venue" by Yankee Magazine and the recipient of the NH AIA award for design excellence.

With acclaimed signature series like Writers on a New England Stage - a partnership between The Music Hall and New Hampshire Public Radio - and the Intimately Yours music series, we bring top authors and artists to both stages. Also, HD broadcasts from The Metropolitan Opera and the National Theatre of London as well as extraordinary cinema fill both screens almost every night of the year.

This dynamic arts center urges patrons to Explore + Learn via master classes, post film panel discussions, and matinees for children. An anchor cultural organization in this historic working seaport, The Music Hall is one of downtown Portsmouth's biggest employers and largest contributors to the regional economy: The Music Hall and its patrons contribute $7 million annually to the local economy through show and visitor related spending.

Innovative in its outlook, the organization is community oriented and committed to making the Seacoast flourish. The Music Hall is a 501(c)3 nonprofit managed by a professional staff with the assistance of a volunteer board. Though global in the scope of its artists and programs, The Music Hall operates independently with the support of 3,000 members, 300 corporate partners and 58 community partners. Welcoming more than 100,000 patrons (including 20,000 children) each year from the tri-state area and beyond, The Music Hall is the region's center for the performing arts, literature and education...easy to get to, impossible to forget. An American Treasure celebrating 135 years.
