Chris Pine Discusses INTO THE WOODS Cast & His Character: 'I Hope I Don't Ruin It'
Internationally recognized screen superstar Chris Pine is part of the impossibly accomplished cast assembled for director Rob Marshall's big budget big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's celebrated fairy tale-themed musical INTO THE WOODS and the actor opens up about the finer points of his role in the film as part of a new interview.
"Oh, no; oh, no - I will save the big reveal for next Christmas," Pine says nonchalantly when asked to preview a tune or two from the score.
Furthermore, Pine says of his singing abilities, "I hope I don't ruin it for everyone else in the movie because everybody else is so talented."
Touching upon his role in INTO THE WOODS, Pine asserts, "I have a very small part in it - I play Prince Charming; a very kind of two-dimensional, dull Prince Charming, but hopefully very funny.
Additionally, Pine says of the pre-recording process of laying down the vocals for the soundtrack in a studio first, "It was really hard!"
"Standing in a recording booth - you know, the camera is one thing, it picks up everything and everything that you don't want it to pick up on and little moments here and there; and, the microphone does the same thing," Pine reveals.
"To really learn what a mic does - when it picks up breaths and imperfections and stammers and stilts and all that stuff is mortifying!" Pine says with a hearty laugh.
"But, it was fun," Pine opines of the experience.
