Hamlet Productions and Breaking Glass Pictures are pleased to announce today's January 10th limited theatrical release of Bruce Ramsay's Hamlet, the latest adaptation of William Shakespeare's immortal classic about the melancholy Dane. Updated by Bruce Ramsay, who steps into the title role, this accelerated version takes place over a single nightmarish evening in post-WWII London.

Hamlet will open in New York City at Cinema Village and in Los Angeles at the Arena Cinema on January 10th. On January 15th, the film will be available nationwide on Demand.

Treachery, sex and revenge take center stage in this energetic retelling of Shakespeare's immortal play about the afflicted Prince Hamlet and his eventual descent into madness. To live or to die, to kill or to let God above seek revenge for the ills of mankind? The house that once brought Hamlet comfort and joy now snakes itself around him reeking of betrayal and incest. There is no peace to be found where only death and deception live.

Prodded to revenge by his father's ghost, and emotionally abandoned by the queen and his beloved Ophelia, the prince's return home on the heels of his mother's hasty marriage to his father's murderer plays out as an intimate family drama clothed in a claustrophobic panic that ultimately ends in blood and death.
