Bottega Veneta Opens in Historic Boston

Bottega Veneta has joined other luxury shops like Escada, Hermès and St. John in The Heritage on the Garden in the Back Bay district in Boston. The 2,500-square-foot store features ready-to-wear, the label's coveted bags and leather goods, shoes, accessories and fragrances.

"I'm delighted to finally be opening a boutique in Boston, a city of such history and culture," Tomas Maier, Bottega Veneta creative director, told WWD. "The Back Bay neighborhood has a certain charm and intimacy that we were drawn to, and once the right space became available, the opportunity was there. We're confident this new boutique offers the perfect ambience for those who live in and visit Boston to immerse themselves in the collections and experience our superlative service."

The president of Bottega Veneta and chief executive officer of Kering's luxury couture and leather goods division, Marco Bizzarri, added, "As Bottega Veneta continues to grow, our aim is to maintain an organic yet constant development path, based on a very well-balanced plan in terms of both geographic expansion and investment, in order to reinforce overall brand awareness, regional balance and ultimately provide the best possible luxury retail experience."

Founded in Italy in 1966, Bottega Veneta gained notoriety in the seventies and eighties for its handwoven leather bags. After that, the house struggled to find its identity.
