Before she even took her own advice to take time and enjoy the view, it looks like legendary journalist Barbara Walters is coming out of retirement.

The New York Daily News reports that Walters is set to interview the father of the Santa Barbara mass murderer Elliot Rodger. Last month, police identified Rodger as the man who shot and killed six and injured 13 others at the University of California, Santa Barbara in May.

It has only been three weeks since Walters said farewell to her hosting job on ABC's The View and claimed to be retiring from her long-standing career as a journalist. During that time, ABC producers, along with many other news outlets, were working to nab the first interview with Rodgers, himself a Hollywood producer whose credits include "The Hunger Games". According to network sources, Rogers specifically requested to speak to Walters.

The interview will air on an upcoming Special Edition of "20/20," as well as across all of the ABC News platforms, ABC News officials said Monday.
