Every year, thousands of aspiring dancers enter one of the world's most prestigiousballet competitions, the Youth America Grand Prix, where lifelong dreams areat stake. In the final round, with hundreds competing for only a handful of elitescholarships and contracts, practice and discipline are paramount, and nothingshort of perfection is expected. Bess Kargman's award-winning documentary, FirstPosition, follows six young dancers as they prepare for a chance to enter the worldof professional ballet, struggling through bloodied feet, near exhaustion anddebilitating injuries, all while navigating the drama of adolescence. A showcaseof awe-inspiring talent, tenacity and passion, First Position paints a thrilling andmoving portrait of the most gifted young ballet stars of tomorrow.





This incendiary story of determination, youth, beauty and pain opens tonight.Tickets are $13 for adults and $9 for children ages 4-12, though I would recommendit for kids on the older end of that spread.
