BONNIE AND CLYDE Among REEL 13's August Line Up

Arthur Penn's acclaimed if romanticized biographical crime film Bonnie and Clyde, leads the August Reel 13 schedule. The landmark film, which stars Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman and Gene Wilder, is often regarded as one of the first films in the "New Hollywood Era." The film broke many cinematic taboos, particularly in terms of violence, and garnered Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress (Estelle Parsons) and Best Cinematography.

On the final Saturday of programming in August, Cary Grant, Ginger Rogers and Marilyn Monroe star in legendary director Howard Hawks' screwball comedy Monkey Business. Howard Hawks and Cary Grant had collaborated memorably on Bringing Up Baby in 1938.

The series is pre-empted on August 9, 16 and 23 for special pledge programming.

Every Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., viewers can catch a Hollywood Classic hosted by film historian Neal Gabler, followed by an Indie, hosted by Columbia University professor Richard Peña. The evening concludes with a Short film selected by viewers who vote for their favorite of three shorts at Reel13.org.
