Award-Winning Short Film MASQUE Up for Nomination at 2014 Oscars

Masque (www.MasqueTheMovie.com), a film by Cirquelry Productions starring Richard Losee, Lauren Holly and Wilford Brimley, has already made waves at festivals globally. With 43 awards to its name, including multiple "Best Short Film" awards at some of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, producers Richard Losee, Robert Hatch and Matt Hales are proud to present their labor of love for consideration at the 2014 Oscars.

"From the start, we've focused on poetic storytelling that captures the richness and depth of our characters' spirits," says Losee. "Watching Masque resonate with so many has been the greatest reward and we are grateful for this opportunity to showcase it to members of the Academy."

Based on the novella by Sir Henry Maximilian Beerbohm, Masque tells the story of an aging prizefighter, henchman and gambler named Colorado McBride (Richard Losee), whose dark past is mirrored in his malevolently scarred face. Double-crossed and left for dead by his treacherous business partner Masters, he finds compassion in the arms of Grace (Lauren Holly), a widowed country woman, and in the art of a mysterious Mask Maker (Wilford Brimley) whose skills proffer a mythical journey of restitution.

"Working with a wealth of ability and talent like this has been enormously gratifying," says producer Matt Hales. "Everyone brought their best to the table and committed to our vision. We opted to shoot on film instead of using digital cameras because we believed in the artistry of the medium. Authenticity is what Masque is all about."

Masque was most recently nominated for several awards at this month's Golden Door Film Festival, and won "Best Short Film," "Best Concept Film," and "Best Actress" (Lauren Holly).
