Amanda Seyfried & Chris Pine to Lead Nuclear Wasteland Film Z FOR ZACHARIAH
Amanda Seyfried is going from 19th Century France to a nuclear wasteland.
Chris Pine and Seyfried have signed on to star in Craig Zobel's film adaptation of Rober C. O'Brien's classic sci-fi novel Z FOR ZACHARIAH, it was announced today. Tobey Maguire will produce via Material Pictures along with Zik Zak Filmworks.
With a script by Nissar Modi, Z FOR ZACHARIAH is a psychological drama that follows a young woman who has come to believe she is the only survivor after a devastating nuclear event - but soon realizes she's not alone.
The film is set to begin shooting in August.
In 2004, Seyfried made her film debut in Mean Girls. Her subsequent supporting roles were in the independent films Nine Lives (2005) and Alpha Dog (2006). She also had a recurring role in the UPN TV show Veronica Mars (2004-2006) and she starred on the HBO series Big Love.
Seyfried appeared in her breakthrough role in the 2008 musical feature film Mamma Mia!. Her other appearances include leading roles in Jennifer's Body (2009), Chloe (2009), Dear John (2010), Letters to Juliet (2010), Red Riding Hood (2011), In Time (2011) and Gone (2012). She played Cosette in the blockbuster musical film Les Miserables in 2012, can next be seen in the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic, aptly titled LOVELACE.
Pine is well-known for his portrayal of Captain Kirk in Star Trek and Star Trek: Into Darkness. Upcoming films include Jack Ryan and Mantivities. Pine has also appeared on screen in People Like Us, This Means War, Unstoppable, Smokin' Aces and more. He is also reportedly in talks to join the upcoming film adaptation of Steven Sondheim's classic musical Into the Woods.
