50th Anniversary Celebration of IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD Set for Today

The 50th Anniversary screening and celebration of Stanley Kramer's "IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD" which opened The Cinerama Dome 50 years ago, will take place today, October 27th, which will be declared "IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD DAY" in Los Angeles.

Madness will reign supreme on Sunday, October 27, 2013 as the historic Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, CA continues their 50th Anniversary celebration by presenting the film that started it all, Stanley Kramer's madcap epic comic caper, "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, " which received it's World Premiere on November 7, 1963 at what was then called Pacific's Cinerama Theatre 50 years ago.

In an homage to the penultimate scene of the film, original stars from the movie, including Mickey Rooney, Barrie Chase, Marvin Kaplan and Stan Freberg, will arrive via 1960's classic police cars provided by car collector Barry Maiten.

The shenanigans will get underway at 3:00 p.m. with Celebrity and VIP Arrivals on Sunday, October 27th as "Mad World" film fans from around the country descend upon the Cinerama Dome to witness the spectacle. Officials from the City of Los Angeles, including Kimberly Rodriguez, who will attending the event on behalf of the office of Mayor Eric Garcetti; Steven Whiddon, Field Deputy for Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, Los Angeles Council District 13; and Councilmember Tom LaBonge, Los Angeles Council District 4, will be on hand to declare October 27, 2013 "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Day" in the City of Los Angeles and to present certificates of congratulations to the Cinerama Dome, as well as to members of Stanley Kramer's family, including his wife, the Golden Globe Award-winning and Emmy Award-nominated actress, Karen Sharpe Kramer and the Kramer's daughter, Katharine "Kat" Kramer. Lisa Hackett, daughter of the late Buddy Hackett, will also be in attendance.

Barrie Chase, who appeared in the original film will have her Manuel Pertegaz designer ball gown and I. Once everyone is in place and settled down, guests will proceed to the lobby of the Cinerama Dome for the Official Unveiling of a new permanent lobby exhibit created by Jonathan Josell in tribute to Stanley Kramer's "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," after which a Q&A, prior to the screening of the film, will be held with original cast members moderated by actor and comedian, Jeff Garlin (Emmy Awardâ-nominee, "The Goldbergs," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Arrested Development"). After a special message from Sid Caesar is read, the screening of the film will get underway at 5:00 p.m.

The film, "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" was produced and directed by the late award-winning filmmaker, Stanley Kramer. This is event is also in celebration of Stanley Kramer's current Centennial Celebration of his birth, as well as part of a celebration marking the 50th Anniversary of the Cinerama Dome.

The original World Premiere of the movie was held on November 7, 1963 was attended by bevy of notables including Senator Edward Kennedy and his wife at the time, Joan Kennedy, as well as by Senator Robert Kennedy and Ambassador to the United Nations, Adlai Stevensen II. President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy were also slated to attend as well, but didn't make it, as they had plans to be in Dallas, TX later that month.
