VIDEO: New Web Series GOING DARK, About Live Theater Tech, Now Streaming

Going Dark, a new, original web series for and about live-theater's technical teams is now streaming at YouTube.com/goingdarkwebseries. Check out the first episode below!

Drawing inspiration from the comedy stylings of BROAD CITY and Party Down, Going Dark shows the chaos, stress, absurdity, and hubris of working in a position where one should be neither seen or heard in a world of "professional play pretend." Seldom do audiences get a glimpse of life behind the scenes and the events and tomfoolery that often occurs. Season 1 is now streaming.

"This series is the most relatable thing to our line of work I've ever seen. The absurdity of some parts of the job are incredible," says professional stage manager, Cheyanne Christopher, who goes on to say that several portions of the series are based on true events. John Michael Jalonen, series actor, and Usher at Broadway's Hudson Theater says, "Going Dark explores parts of the theater world few people ever see. And after seeing that world for yourself, you'll understand why."

Going Dark had a micro-micro-budget of $500, and did all principle production over a single weekend. The series' Youtube channel had over 200 subscribers before episodes had even launched. To remain true to form, most of the actors are professional carpenters, technicians, and painters and also doubled as the film crew.

Going Dark's 8-episode first season was written, directed, and produced by UCB Alum Jaime Mac. Cast includes Nicole Carrol, John Michael Jalonen, Shelby Smith, Johnny Santos, Jamie Watson, Jocelyn Brown, Paul Bourgeois, and Jaime Mac. Original sound compositions done by Paul Bourgeois.
