Pioneer Joins HDBaseT Alliance to Broaden Connectivity Options in Home Theater Products

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. and the HDBaseT Alliance today announced that Pioneer has joined the Alliance, which will allow Pioneer to incorporate HDBaseT technology into its home consumer audio and video products. HDBaseT technology enables the delivery of uncompressed high definition video, audio, Internet, controls and power over a single cat5e/6 cable.

"HDBaseT represents the next significant step in the evolution of the home theater system. Integrating the technology into our products will make setup and control of even the most complex home theater systems faster and easier," said Chris Walker, director of AV product planning and marketing for the Home Electronics Division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "Pioneer always strives to offer outstanding connectivity, state of the art engineering, and exceptional audio and video reproduction across all of its products. Incorporating HDBaseT is another way to ensure that our customers make the most of their home theater experience."

"HDBaseT has been embraced by professional AV installers worldwide, which is creating demand from consumers for broader availability," said Micha Risling, marketing chair for the HDBaseT Alliance. "Having Pioneer join the HDBaseT Alliance will help us meet that growing demand in 2013."

One Cable for All Connections

The HDBaseT technology is a high-definition multimedia content delivery standard ideal for home entertainment systems and business applications. In a home theater, HDBaseT can connect all entertainment devices in a setting through its 5Play feature set, converging uncompressed full HD digital video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, up to 100W of power and various control signals through a single 100m/328ft CAT5e/6 cable with RJ45 connectors.

Pioneer Joins the HDBaseT Alliance

In order to integrate HDBaseT technology into its products, Pioneer has joined the HDBaseT Alliance, a cross-industry alliance that promotes and provides a technical standard for HDBaseT technology for the distribution of uncompressed HD multimedia content. Founded by LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Valens Semiconductor, the HDBaseT Alliance and its member companies work together to create a global standard for advanced digital media distribution.
