The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a non-profit public-private partnership focused on helping all digital citizens stay safer and more secure online, today announced that Comcast Cable's executive director of Security and Privacy has joined its Board of Directors.

Jay Opperman possesses over 33 years of experience in the telecommunications and data communications markets and has served in a wide range of roles including systems engineering, architecture, strategic product marketing and management. "Jay is one of the leading security and privacy professionals in the country. His work at Comcast making the Internet safer and more secure is directly relevant to NCSA's mission," said Michael Kaiser, executive director of the National Cyber Security Alliance. "We're looking forward to working with Jay and Comcast on expanding and enhancing NCSA programs."

"The NCSA Board includes a diverse representation of companies and organizations that are all doing their part to help the Internet become a safer environment for all," said Jay Opperman, senior director of Security and Privacy for Comcast. "I'm thrilled to represent Comcast as part of this accomplished group and look forward to furthering NCSA's mission to empower digital citizens to control their digital footprint."

His dynamic experience makes him well suited to support the Boards efforts to plan and execute initiatives on behalf of NCSA. Opperman has also served on other various organizational boards including the Internet Society (ISOC), an organization that helps to develop Internet-related standards, education, and policies. He is also a member of the NTIA's Online Safety Technology Working group, CSRIC Botnet Remediation Working Group, and is a FOSI Outstanding Achievement award winner.
