Apple to Bring 5G WIFI to 2013 Devices?

According to The Next Web, "Apple has struck a deal with chip maker Broadcom to outfit its new Macs with 802.11ac chips. This will provide a much-needed boost for the standard, which is currently undergoing revisions, as electronics manufacturers look to introduce new consumer products capable of supporting high-speed networks."

Broadcom notes that their 5G WiFi technology is the next generation Wi-Fi standard required for today's mobile and video era and is 3x faster and 6x more power efficient than previous generation 802.11an devices. Based on 802.11ac, 5G WiFi is a major evolutionary step from the existing 802.11a/b/g/n networks.

The new technology is expected to join Apple's fill lineup of iMacs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TV and laptops.
