Act-On Software Named a Top Trusted Website in the Online Trust Alliance 2014 Online Trust Honor Roll Report

BEAVERTON, OR -  Act-On Software, the leading marketing automation provider for small and mid-sized businesses, today announced its inclusion in the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) 2014 Online Trust Honor Roll, an independent audit recognizing businesses with a demonstrated commitment to ensuring consumer safety and data protection. Act-On has been named to the list for the second consecutive year, which is a testament to the company's stewardship in consumer protection and online privacy and security.

OTA, a non-profit that works collaboratively with industry leaders to empower internet users and improve online trust, completed audits on more than 500 million emails, more than 800 different domains and privacy policies, and over 10,000 web pages associated with the Internet Retailer 500 (IR500), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC 100), and Top 50 Social, News/Media and Federal Government sites. Analysis fell across three main categories: Domain, Brand, and Consumer Protection; Site, Server, and Infrastructure Security; and Data Protection and Privacy.

Only 30 percent of the companies reviewed made the Honor Roll, so that Act-On has now received this distinction twice only underscores the company's dedication to privacy, trust, and compliance. Placement in the 2014 Honor Roll is a huge achievement when one considers over 57 percent received failing grades in one or more categories. Leading brands received failing marks in critical areas including inadequate domain and consumer protection (31%), insecure websites (11%), and inadequate policies for privacy and data collection (28%).

"Protecting consumer data and respecting users' privacy are paramount to the vitality of the internet and the future of interactive marketing. Once again, Act-On has demonstrated their commitment to best practices and collaboration to enhance online trust," said Craig Spiezle, Executive Director and President, Online Trust Alliance. "Being a recipient of the 2014 Honor Roll speaks to their leadership."

Concludes David Fowler, Act-On's Chief Privacy and Deliverability Officer, "The digital marketing eco-system has provided a tremendous opportunity to proactively manage consumer relationships. As a result, privacy management has become a core foundation for our business. The Honor Roll recognition from OTA is validation of our commitment to clients' privacy and Act-On's industry leadership."
