The St. John of God Foundation is proud to present 'A Night on the Swan' - a fundraising event to raise essential funds for ovarian cancer research at the picturesque setting of Acqua Viva on The Swan on 19 October 2016.

Now in its third year, guests will enjoy gourmet food and beverages throughout including a fine furniture and art exhibition sale featuring local West Australian artists such as John McIntosh, Shannon Hamilton and Pippin Drysdale including furniture from JAHROC. A limited edition '946 Emporio Armani Vespa will be auctioned on the evening along with a signature Smales diamond bracelet for the raffle with all proceeds directed to ovarian cancer research. The cocktail fundraiser will feature dazzling 360 degree views of the Swan River and stunning surrounding park lands.

Event founder Dr. Jason Tan - St. John of God Gynaecologic Oncologist says:

"Gynaecological cancer had no research funding in WA until about five years ago so there was a need to raise money. Every bit of funds raised are used efficiently to place research where it's important. It not just about finding a cure for cancer, but knowing about the side-effects of cancer treatment, and its psychological or sexual impact. Whilst curing the cancer is usually the focus, Dr Paul Cohen is also looking in the right direction: quality of life and survivorship. Our ovarian cancer treatment and outcome figures in SJOG rank amongst the best in the world, and now we need the research to make sure patient aren't just living, but living well. And this year we are very excited with the event with some great auction items including an Armani 946 Vespa Limited edition: there is only one left in the whole of Australia."

Established in 1994, the St. John of God Foundation works to raise funds in response to identified needs of people and communities which are not met by traditional means or direct government funding. The foundation contributes to many hospital developments in local communities and to Social Outreach services. The vision of the Gynaecological Oncology Research Group is to become a world renowned centre of excellence - a leader in local, national and international gynaecologic cancer research encompassing a range of medical innovation and survivorship.

Dr. Paul Cohen - St. John of God Director of Gynaecological Cancer Research says:

"Having a disease like ovarian cancer is life-changing for the person and for their families and the treatments themselves may be associated with physical and psychological consequences which are long term. It's about how you can better manage those issues with the aim of restoring quality of life. Looking at the whole person - wholistic care."

A Night on the Swan promises to deliver an outstanding charity gala experience. St. John of God Foundation urges the people of WA to support the vital research and treatment of ovarian cancer.

Tickets are $55 on sale now from the Night on the Swan website.
