Lebanese Wine Day, organized by Lebanon's Ministry of Agriculture, has its U.S. debut in New York on November 17th. The event celebrates the wines from 26 of Lebanon's top producers and the great winemaking heritage from this historical wine producing country in the eastern Mediterranean. The American debut follows successful events in Paris (2013) and Berlin (2014).

"Our rich winemaking history dates back to 6,000 B.C. when we created the wine culture in the Mediterranean basin," explained Lebanon's Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Mr. Akram Chehayeb. "Today, we want the world - and America's wine lovers - to rediscover our great wines." Lebanon's wine producers benefit from high altitude growing regions, an ideal climate (warm days followed by evenings cooled by sea breezes) and limestone terroir that imparts distinctive qualities to both global and indigenous varieties. Growing areas range from the Bekaa Valley in the east of Lebanon to Batroun in the north part of the country.

In addition to the walk-around tasting, Lebanese Wine Day features two seminars by noted eastern Mediterranean wine expert, Christy Canterbury, MW (http://www.christycanterbury.com), and the cuisine of Ilili (http://www.ililinyc.com), one of New York's leading Mediterranean restaurants.

Lebanese Wine Day will be held at the renowned Astor Center (399 Lafayette St). The event is open to qualified trade and press only. For more information on the event and the Lebanese wine industry, or to register, visit lebanesewineday.eventbrite.com.
