West Coast meets East Coast, in an effort to bring New Yorkers great beer.GrowlerWerks' uKeg, a growler from Portland that can keep beer fresh, cold and carbonated for two weeks or more,is available for purchase and filling at Top Hops Beer Shop on New York's Lower East Side (www.tophops.com). This merchant and advocate for great beer will host demonstrations of the uKeg, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at its 94 Orchard Street location. In addition to great pours, the event will include a raffle for a free uKeg.

Top Hops Beer Shop, a culture center for craft and import beers, is a natural partner for GrowlerWerks and supported the uKeg's initial launch. "We're excited to help get the shop's featured craft beers home with their customers," said GrowlerWerks founder Shawn Huff. "As a New York Times article explains, 'There's fine beer just about everywhere on their premises on shelves, in neatly stacked boxes, in refrigerator cases, on tap for growlers.' Our uKeg will enhance the experience of enjoying craft beer at home."

GrowlerWerks' uKeg was created by four beer-loving engineers in Portland, Ore. They were frustrated with theirfavorite local beers going flat in glass growlers. They used a combined 47 years of engineering and product-design experience to create a better way to store beer, allowing people to consume growlers full of beer on their own timelines. An easy-to-use regulator cap, equipped with a low-cost, food-grade CO2 cartridge, partners with a vacuum-insulated, stainless steel vessel to make the uKeg's unique benefits possible.

The uKeg is changing how and how often people enjoy craft beer. This game-changing growler allows people to drink craft beer the way brewers intended it, and not only on premises, but in homes and on getaways.

The uKeg is needed on both coasts. The nation is brewing beer that isn't always sold in bottles and is too good to pour down a drain once it goes flat. GrowlerWerks' pressurized growler keeps oxygen away from beer and maintains perfect carbonation from the first to last pour. No wonder one beer reviewer called the uKeg the "brave, new growler."
